Priscilla Bianchi: The Guatemalan Fabric of my Life

Priscilla Bianchi, a native Guatemalan now a seasoned art quilt artist, merges the rich textile traditions of her Mayan heritage with the diverse influences of American quilting. Her work is a powerful narrative of culture, language, race, and gender, expressed through intricate compositions, abstract designs, and vibrant color palettes. Each quilt serves as a canvas where Bianchi crafts her visual stories, using textiles laden with symbolism and indigenous Guatemalan designs.

“The quilts in this exhibition are more than just fabric and threads—they are a vivid tableau of my life's experiences, my heritage, and my love for the craft,” said Priscilla Bianchi. “Each piece is a personal reflection, inviting viewers to explore the depth of Guatemalan culture intertwined with modern artistic expression.”

The Guatemalan Fabric of My Life has been met with critical acclaim at its previous showings at the Houston International Quilt Festival, Long Beach International Quilt Festival, Bay Quilts in Richmond, CA, and The Fabric Chic in Parkville, MO
