Thank you for your interest in the Monterroso Gallery Residency Program!

We’re excited to learn more about your artistic practice and who you are as a creative individual. Our residency emphasizes building a strong, supportive community among the residents and connecting with the wider Houston art scene.
In addition to working on your own projects, this program is about sharing space and engaging with your fellow residents. We’re looking for artists who are open to collaboration, eager to learn from others, and excited to contribute their own experiences and knowledge. Whether you work in painting, sculpture, mixed media, or any other medium, we value a diversity of perspectives and practices.
This application will help us understand not just where you are in your art journey, but also how you approach teamwork, community, and creativity. We can't wait to learn about you and your work!

About the Program: This unique residency offers artists the chance to collaborate and grow within a supportive community for an extended period. You'll have access to a shared workspace 24/7, along with storage and utilities, including insurance and electricity, with parking available during office hours.

Due to the long-term nature of this residency and the private gallery setting, there is a monthly fee of $675. Over the six-month period, you’ll work alongside fellow residents to develop a collective show, participate in monthly critiques, and benefit from visits by professionals from the art community.

At the end of this period, we’ll assess your progress together, and if you’re ready, you may have the option to extend your residency to focus on a solo show. We look forward to learning more about your artistic journey and how you might fit into our community!
