By commingling elements of painting and sculpture, "I Am a Part of Everything" explores color, surface, and optical perception. The greatest affinity of the works, however, is in revealing how women artists perceive the female figure. Either by Hoven's' sculptures created in solidarity with racial and sexual difference, or Monterroso's paintings embracing the feminine power as mothers of this world, the works seek the female perspective of the feminist pursuit of self-determination. Together they serve as an invitation for women to acknowledge, embrace and reconsider the possibilities of women’s collective strength.
